T. S. Arthur

T. S. Arthur was among the most well known, prolific American authors of the 19th century. Now mostly forgotten, his moralistic and temperance literary output included hundreds of books and periodical contributions. Arthur's classic 1854 book "Ten Nights in a Bar Room" was among the best sellers of the century. It was widely reprinted over a fifty year period, adapted into a very popular play, and made into silent/talkie movies.

This site will review all aspects of Arthur's output with an emphasis on books and in particular, Ten Nights in a Bar-Room.

As with any bibliography, this site is a work in progress. Please contact us with any questions, information, etc.
